Tokyo ON #047: Best of Japanese Music 2018

Maction Planet Radio returns with another episode of their flagship show, Tokyo ON, showcasing the best of Japanese music 2018!

It’s the end of an eventful 2018, so in this special extended episode Maction Planet Resident DJ Royce Leong looks back on the year and presents Tokyo ON’s best of Japanese music 2018. The show is a veritable awards ceremony, with Royce deciding the best female artist, male artist, band, debut, album and song of the year. Trust us, this is the good stuff!

In addition to the usual suspects you’ll also hear some Deepfunkun, WOMAN, Helsinki Lambda Club and more. Who in 2018 is worthy of your valuable listening time? Tune in to find out!

If you want more detailed information on many of the artists mentioned in this episode, please check out the official Tokyo ON website (tokyophonic.com)

Our tour guests, listeners to Maction Planet Radio and readers of our blog know that one of our many goals is to open up Tokyo’s diverse music culture to visitors. This can be difficult to crack due to the language barrier and the sheer breadth and depth of the scene. Concerts, gigs, club nights across every conceivable genre, homegrown, traditional, modern and internationally-influenced… the variety is outstanding. In most cases there is no English-language information available for these amazing events, and that is where we can help.

We run Tokyo Music Tours, which we brand “Maction Planet Radio Tours”, introducing people to the varied range of music in this amazing city. Like everything we do, your Tokyo Music Tour can be fully customised around the rest of your time touring The World’s Greatest Metropolis, where everything old is new again!
