Tokyo ON #022: September Stroll

Another edition of Tokyo ON, Maction Planet Radio’s flagship show, hits the tape!

It’s September now and with the change of the seasons Maction Planet Resident DJ Royce Leong introduces to you the flavours and new rhythms of the month from the likes of WONK, DAOKO and Shin Rizumu.

He also gives his thoughts on life in Tokyo and development of the city.

Out featured image comes from the Yokohama Triennale. It’s a photo of Mark Justiniani’s incredible “Tunnel”, a piece from 2016 which has been installed in the Yokohama Museum of Art for the Triennale. Constructed from LEDs and reflective materials and objects and despite appearance it measures only 2.44m x 3.05m x 1.02m. The theme of the Triennale is “Islands, Constellations and Galapagos”. The Maction Planet team has been several times and both we and our guests absolutely love it. It has become a firm fixture on our Yokohama Tours.

The episode of Tokyo ON makes ideal listening wherever you are strolling, including art galleries! Tune in and welcome the onset of autumn with Tokyo ON.

Maction Planet runs Tokyo Music Tours, which we brand “Maction Planet Radio Tours”, introducing people to the varied and diverse range of music in The World’s Greatest Metropolis. Tokyo’s music scene can be difficult to crack for visitors, due to the language barrier and the sheer breadth and depth of the scene. Concerts, gigs, club nights across every conceivable genre, homegrown, traditional, modern and internationally-influenced… the variety is outstanding. In most cases there is no English-language information available for these amazing events, and that is where we can help.

Like everything at Maction Planet, your Tokyo Music Tour can be fully-customised around the rest of your time touring The World’s Greatest Metropolis. Click here for one example – Cherry Blossom viewing followed by an amazing gig from Tokyo Discotheque Orchestra.
