This Week in Tokyo – 6 July 2021
Welcome to ‘This Week in Tokyo’, a review of the Maction Planet week that was and a look ahead to what’s coming up in the city. Hosted by Mac, our Founder and Lead Guide, you can check out photos from our tours and read insights into our explorations as we get under the skin of the World’s Greatest Metropolis, and beyond! This week: Like Anytime; Revelations on Kanpai Planet; Fantastic fans; No Nonsense Japanese Whisky Trends: and Hello Kitty Anatomy Chart.
Featured image – Like Anytime: Sho Ohashi was born in 1991. After graduating from Rikkyo University, he joined KNOT where he was planning and producing events as well as PR business in the beauty industry. He’s been freelance since 2017 and is currently active primarily in graphic design, illustration, and space coordination.
‘Like Anytime’ can be seen in the corridor that links the Keio Inokashira line to the JR Shibuya Station. There are two versions, one on each side of the corridor. This is the masked one, a piece for our time.
This is not the first time Sho Ohashi has been featured in ‘This Week in Tokyo’. You would need an eagle-eye to have picked it up. In the photo ‘Hachiko and Aogeru – Together again for the final time ‘ in the 4 August 2020 edition of This Week in Tokyo, take a look at the artwork on the green tram. That’s Sho Ohashi’s!

Revelations on Kanpai Planet: Over the last week we hit 666 subscribers on the Kanpai Planet YouTube channel. “Hope you don’t have hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia!” I commented on the Kanpai Planet social media [Twitter | Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn]. That’s the A* I got in my Ancient Greek GCSE coming into play!

Fantastic fans: One of those subscribers to Kanpai Planet made my day, my week and at a minimum my month by hooking me up with a few bottles of hard-to-find whisky – at RRP no less, after initially refusing payment.
These bottles are:
I’ve reviewed the first two of those – you can watch them at the links above.
I am speechless, and I’m more motivated than ever to keep producing the best content I can for the amazing community that has formed around my channel. Kanpai!

No Nonsense Japanese Whisky Trends: I was invited by Vin PF to share my thoughts on the latest trends in Japanese Whisky for the No Nonsense Whisky Blog. I covered the new Japanese Whisky Standards, stock swaps, barrel choices, pricing and misinformation.

Hello Kitty Anatomy chart: Hello Kitty is not a cat. She is a person. Her name is Kitty White and she is British. She is 5 apples tall and she weighs 3 apples. This anatomy chart clearly proves this. ‘Nuff said.
