Maction Planet celebrates fourth anniversary of www.mactionplanet.com
Maction Planet, the top-rated boutique operator reinventing custom travel in Japan, today celebrated the fourth anniversary of its website, www.mactionplanet.com.
Maction Planet began as a bespoke tour and experience operator focused primarily on Tokyo and surroundings, launching their website on 20 February 2017. In the intervening four years, the company has grown from humble ‘word-of-mouth’ beginnings to offer fully-customised tours and experiences all across Japan.
Mac, Founder and Lead Guide of Maction Planet, commented on this milestone: “We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished in the four years since we launched our website. What started out as a desire to share our ‘inspired by Tokyo’ outlook with a wider audience has grown into a fully-fledged globally-recognised travel business, original apparel, an active blog, social media channels with a large loyal following and a radio show bringing Tokyo’s music to the world.”
“Of course, the last 12 months were not what anyone was expecting. First and foremost, our thoughts go out to all those who have lost loved ones or are suffering as a result of COVID-19. This global pandemic is a human tragedy and it is important not to lose sight of this. COVID-19 has had a savage impact on the travel industry. 10% of global employment is in the travel and tourism sector and we feel for our colleagues around the world wherever they may be.”
Focus on the mission
Despite everything, Maction Planet spent the year laser-focused on its original mission – sharing Tokyo and Japan with the world. We continued to put out extensive content on the Maction Planet blog and to introduce Japanese music to the world through Maction Planet Radio.
We posted 24 videos on the Maction Planet YouTube channel in the last 12 months. Our most popular video was a timely film about Super Nintendo World, allowing guests to experience this exhilarating attraction from the comfort of their own homes. We also made videos about the new Godzilla Zipline on Awaji Island, watching Japanese baseball during COVID-19 and much, much more. We were even commissioned by The Tokyo Life to make a video for them about attending Sumo Wrestling.
Good news for fans of ‘Triangle Thrillers‘, the Top 10 NHK World TV show that Mac stars in. Three episodes were recently filmed, featuring exciting adventures on the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail in Tohoku, and around Fukushima Prefecture. The episodes are due to air in early March 2021.
Supporting others – our core philosophy
“It’s been a real pleasure to support others in their creative endeavours this year,” said Mac
Mac has been a guest on a number of podcasts:
As well as the audio-visual route, Mac has written several guest posts on a diverse range of topics:
- Global Citizenship for esque | global.
- COVID-19 and Japan Tourism and Hanami in the Time of COVID-19 for The Tokyo Life
- Mario Cafe and Godzilla Zipline for Otaku USA Magazine
- Sakura, Sakura, Sakura 2020 – Flower Viewing at the Museum! for Tokyo Art Beat
- ‘Karaoke Madness!‘ and ‘I want to swap the Tokyo Metro for a buffalo taxi‘ for Japan Story
To top this all off, Mac was invited by Toyo University’s Department of International Tourism Management to give a presentation to their students as part of their guest lecturer series.
Cooking class community
2020 saw the launch of Maction Planet online cooking classes. These have proven hugely popular and the growth of the community of regular attendees has been a highlight of 2020.
“If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you join us to learn more about Japanese cuisine and culture from the comfort of your own home. The next class is on 21 March 2021 (JST), and we’ll be making Gyoza. Email info@mactionplanet.com to sign up.” said Mac.
Looking ahead to Year 5
“Maction Planet currently has over 290 ‘Excellent’ TripAdvisor reviews, making us the top-rated independent tour company with reviews on the platform. We couldn’t be happier. This puts us in good stead for when tourism recovers.” said Mac.
“I personally cannot wait to welcome guests to the World’s Greatest Metropolis as soon as possible. We are ready when you are!”
“Between now and then, please continue to travel virtually through our cooking classes and our YouTube channel. Speaking of which, we’ve launched a sister channel, KANPAI PLANET. Please join us as we bring you the world of Japanese drinks, one sip at a time!”
We continue…
“No Mac is an island. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone across the planet for their support. We continue…”
