My first Tokyo Yakult Swallows game
Tonight’s baseball was absolutely awesome!
My first ever Tokyo Yakult Swallows game saw ‘us’ – yes, I already feel like I’m going to be going a lot more often, taking on the Yokohama Baystars.
Going into the bottom of the ninth we were 4-2 down. Having scored one homer earlier in the innings, Alex Ramirez steps up. Sitting on two strikes, bases loaded, Ramirez hits a bouncer into the midfield which is misfielded and two of our men round the bases to win 5-4!
The atmosphere throughout the game was electric. Highlights include the umbrella dance which the Swallows’ fans perform with matching umbrellas, seeing Ramirez’s victory celebration live after watching it on TV several times and discovering that Riggs is the hardest surname to pronounce in the Japanese language.
I can’t wait to go again!
