Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone—eight years since the launch of mactionplanet.com! Looking back over this period, I am filled with gratitude for how far we’ve come and excited for what lies ahead.

2024 was another extraordinary year for both Japan travel and Maction Planet, but one that has come with new challenges and opportunities. The travel boom that began in 2023 carried over and accelerated, but we saw shifts in Japan’s tourism landscape. The weakening yen, rising accommodation costs, and evolving traveller preferences reshaped how people explored Japan. We witnessed an evolving travel landscape where quality and authenticity became more crucial than ever. We saw growing appreciation for truly personalized experiences throughout the year, with guests increasingly seeking deeper connections to Japanese culture and local communities.

This shift perfectly aligned with Maction Planet’s foundational philosophy of creating bespoke, immersive experiences and reinforced my commitment to delivering the most personalised experiences available.

Despite, or perhaps as a result of these shifts, 2024 has been another year of growth for Maction Planet. We’ve expanded our reach, welcomed incredible new guests, and further strengthened our relationships with local businesses and artisans who help make our tours genuinely unique. Whether guiding first-time visitors through Tokyo’s vibrant neighbourhoods, crafting multi-city adventures across Japan, or helping repeat guests discover new hidden gems, we’ve remained dedicated to our core mission: delivering unforgettable journeys through Japan’s rich culture, history, sport, music, gastronomy, beverages and much much more.

Alongside Maction Planet, our sister platform, Kanpai Planet, has reached new heights. Now in its fifth year, Kanpai Planet continues to be the go-to source for Japanese drinks content, bringing audiences deep dives into whisky, sake, shochu, and beyond. From exclusive tastings to industry insights, we’re proud to be at the forefront of showcasing Japan’s beverage culture to the world.
